Hello July, I'm finally here!

I've been doing some drawings with watercolour and graphite. This time I've been doing some experimentation with larger surfaces as well. I found it's pretty challenging for watercolour medium to spread across these large surfaces but as long as there is some traces of these beautiful organic watermarks showing up on my work, I'm happy with it. I love you watermarks...you really kept me going!
Hope you like them. :)

1st Experiment for New Project...

hello everyone! how have you been?
it has been so long since i last posted my painting on here!
i've been trying to develop some new ideas for my painting project.
think, for this semester i would try loosen up my painting for a bit, and see how it goes.
painting no.1 is my first attempt in trying to do so.
and the second painting is just some eyes studies that i've been doing at the moment.

so i hope you like it

hello everyone
sorry that i've disappeared on you for almost 3 weeks!
i feel extremely bad, like i haven't give enough love to my watercolour...sorry mr. watercolour :(
anyways since i've been gone for so long as i was lack of inspiration and it's a perfect time to celebrate the upcoming birthday of my true artist-idol, Danny Roberts of Igor+Andre.
his birthday is tomorrow which is on the 18th of July.
so i decided to use this opportunity to wish Danny an early very Happy Birthday...
wish you all the happiness and keep inspiring us with your creative style.
thus, the painting today is my little present for Danny.

Little Ones... - Youthscape 2010 Exhibition

hello people!
so my friend was showing me his baby photo album the other day and i could not stop myself from looking at this little girl-looking boy with red cheeks and blue eyes.
don't you reckon he looks too pretty for a young boy ! haha..
and yep i ended up painting this little girl.
it was heaps good fun working on this photo.

and today was an opening day for Youthscape 2010 exhibition.
it was good seeing my paintings up on the wall, and there are so many great artworks exhibiting.
so i've got some photos from the events for you. :)

The Guy with Paper-Hat...

hello, how's everyone?
ok so i found this picture of Gaspard Ulliel, a French actor/ model and i just wanna draw him! hehe..
he's so beautiful with his baby-face and all :P
so yep, the story behind pretty much every paintings of mines was that they're too beautiful to resist making these watermarks off of them.
:)

im all pumped for this coming holidays so i can have time to myself and my ideas!!!

The Girl with No Name

i have no idea why but this painting looks so much like a portrait of a kid with make-up rather than the other paintings with the usual feminine look of mines in this series.

so overall i like how her eyes and her lip turned out, but the hair is definately too bleached out.
may be the cold/windy/rainy weather called 'winter' has influenced a little bit too much on my sense of colour...
because clearly my subject matter's hair would somehow become less dull if it wasn't for that.
grey isn't quite the right colour for her hair, hmm...
speaking of which, i think it's about time for me to do my own little colour testing-table for a change. i can foresee that i'm going to be having so much fun doing it already!! :D

The Girl with Flying Hair 2...

like you can see, im now in the stage of mint and peach obsession, hehe...
i was attempted to make her hair lighter, so mint seemed to be a prefect solution! HA!
anyways, hope you like it :)

Pcard - New project...

hey everyone! how are you all?
about two weeks ago while i was working on a postcard size painting for Next Wave Festival, the idea of doing a series in postcard size has came up to me.
so the project is going to be quite similar to the Watermark series but in smaller version and more experimental i guess.
plus, it's not going to be a portrait of an inspiration image that i've got off of website anymore. :P
it's going to be an image of my friend to start off with, well for now anyways, and then we'll see how it goes.
and i haven't actually got any name for this series yet, so hopefully i'll come up with one soon.
today i present to you, Miss Eve, a good friend of mine whos doing her art course in Arizona, our first painting for the project
i really am enjoying painting her. in fact, i would find myself doing some sketches of her every now and then.

today's painting isn't quite summing-up the exact style that i want to deliver in this project just yet. but i'll make it happens soon... so hang in there guys!
once again sorry for the bad quality photograph.

:)

The Girl with Flying Hair...

painted this today in my painting class.
i was actually in love with the image that i worked off of for this flying hair girl.
it's just amazing so i painted it, that's how things work, isn't it?
paint whatever you love to paint... :)

The Girl with a Plait...

at first i was so worried that i wouldn't be able to get the plait right.
but now i actually like how it turned out to be more of how the nature of watercolour should be, rather than having a prefect looking plait which doesn't remain its traces of watercolour gestures.
also i really like her soft lips colour.
btw sorry for the bad quality photograph, i really need a good scanner!
goodnight people :)

The Girl with ' ? '...

this painting is slightly different to my other paintings in term of the brushstrokes are being less rigid.
i was trying to make her look more abstract, i supposed but don't really know if that's working out or not.
hmm.. guess i'll have to keep on exploring my style then!
:)

The Girl with Feathers... - Beards & Moustaches Exhibition

i'm back on posting again... woohoo!!
i got sick since last week so haven't really paying attention and giving love to my blog lately but i'll try my best to upload some of the work i've been doing so far!
today i posted a painting that is in developing stage of my style i guess.
the girl with pale cadet blue skin tone.
so hope you like it :)

on tuesday night it was 'Beards and Moustaches Exhibition' opening night.
as it clearly stated itself on title of the exhibition, people who enter the exhibition must have a moustach on either their face or finger!
the artworks exhibited there were amazing! as you can see some of them on the recap photo.
